The Moffatts

TRANSLATION: So Live The Moffatts In Germany!!

From Nashville to Strommeln via Cologne! 7,500 km far away from their hometown in America, The Moffatt brothers have found a new home! Since the beginning of November, they are living with their parents in Germany! BRAVO visited Scott, Dave, Bob and Clint in their new home...

"Yeeeeeeaaaaaaahhhh!" Scott's rejoicing cry resounds inescapably loud by the "Djerks" Studios. "We have made it! We are here!" The reason? Just that the four brothers, Scott (14) Clint, Bob and Dave (all 13) have seen their debut single, "I'll be There For You" shoot from zero to number 46 on the German station charts! A mad success for the newcomers from Nashville, USA! Father Frank (43) and Stepmother Sheila (31) embrace, beaming with joy while looking at their sons. "it was worth it to leave our homeland and come to Germany", said Scott, the oldest of the four. For four weeks, The Moffatts lived with their parents in the small town of Pulheim-Strommeln, 20 kilometers northwest of Cologne. They want to start their career in Germany (as did the Backstreet Boys!) No easy decision for this family, for their residence in Nashville was to be abandoned and they were pulled 7,500 kilometers to Stommeln. "We miss our friends the most," says Dave. He adds: "We have even learned a little German so we can talk with people here."

In the small town, there are two churches, a few taverns, a supermarket, and the "Djerks" Studios where The Scorpions and The Dead Trousers recorded. "Even Michael Jackson secretly did a song here," says Scott. The Moffatt family lives in a furnished bungalow (the mechanism is genuinely funny!) very close to the studios. Before you enter, a white gate elbows the curves and a Madonna statue sits in the garden. "We feel totally at home here," says Clint. "The people are very friendly. The cold weather helps us be creative!" Scott told us: "When we first set foot here, we were already recognized and asked for autographs - everyone knew us from BRAVO!"

The Moffatts work hard for their success, and the routines of the day are strictly regulated (as is the US Army!). "We get up at about 7:30 and go running with our Dad. At about 9:00 we go into the studio for five hours and rehearse our songs like "If Life Is Too Short" or "I Miss You Like Crazy" for our tour in the Spring," says Dave. "We will also sing a cover version of the Police hit, "Every Breath You Take."

After lunch, school is next on the plan. Since the brothers have not gone to a real school since fall of 1992, their father, Frank teaches them. "Today we are studying grammar," says Scott. While the four look over their school books, their father, Frank, nods contently. "My boys are good pupils - they are very disciplined and determined."

The Moffatts will remain in Germany through the middle of December and will fly back to the states on December 14th. Scott says, "We will celebrate Christmas in Green Bay, Wisconsin with Sheila's sister, but we will be back in January again and will prepare for our biggest show on February 6th at the BRAVO SUPER SHOW in Dortmund!"
